Recruitment
We will always pleased to hear
from any prospective new member who wishes to umpire in the Bolton
& District Cricket Association.
We
do not have any rules regarding qualification although a basic
interest is a good start. We have men and women umpires from all
faiths and backgrounds and have an open door policy.
Obviously those who have played cricket have a greater understanding
of the game and ex-players, of any ability are most welcomed. We
actively encourage young people who may have a keen interest but
perhaps fail on ability as players. From this a good umpire could come
(Dickie Bird is a classical example of a first class player who never
broke any pots but who became the best umpire in the world)
Any
current umpires wishing to officiate at a higher level by joining a
senior league playing a very high standard of cricket witnessed by
many very keen supporters are asked to come and join us.
Lastly you may not have any experience of cricket but knowledge of the
game as a spectator. We can train you; we will support you; and where
better to watch a game than on the actual field of play.
Give it a try, you just may like it.
